I have a great love of animals and abhor mistreatment, of any kind, to them.
On several occasions, over the years, I volunteered time to the Ugandan Society for the Protection and Care of Animals (USPCA) animal welfare society, to photograph their rescue dogs, cats, kittens, and puppies. The animals were generally found roaming and sleeping on the streets, and most of the time, to be in abysmal condition.
Members of the public would bring the rescued animal (s) in, or staff from the shelter would be called out to rescue them. On arrival at the shelter the animal(s) would be assessed and if necessary, given medical care (and usually a thorough wash!). Once deemed to be healthy they will be placed for adoption.
Uganda Society for the Protection and Care of Animals (USPCA) is a not for profit animal welfare organisation working in a very difficult environment and of course, always in desperate need of funding.
